Jason Venus

Jason first held a camera in 1986 when he started work as a trainee commercial photographer. Whilst spending 5 years photographing circuit boards, components and helicopters, he developed a passion for photographing local wildlife.

In 1994, he won the Urban Wildlife category in the British Gas Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Two years later, his innovative shot of a backlit badger running towards the camera won him the top award - BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year - in the same competition.
